MINYMA KUTJARA (Two Women) is an important creation story for women of the Western and Southern deserts and a special story for the Irrunytji, located close to the tri-state border of WA, NT and SA in the Wingellina Hills.
This Tjukurrpa (Dreaming Story) tells how two sisters travelled north together, with the big sister taking her little sister to meet her family for the first time, after being raised by another family she didn't want to leave. Near Irrunytju, the sisters sat on two hills and made hair belts in preparation for important women's business. They threw their Wana (digging stick) to create the rockhole. We can see the paths they took, the places they camped and all the terrain they travelled through. The Irrunytju continue to strive to reflect their culture and Tjukurpa through their art.
